A Steam Train Journey on the Spa Valley Railway

Here are some photographs I took during a steam train journey on the Spa Valley Railway in Kent. The Railway is staffed entirely by volunteers who give their time to keep this piece of history alive. If you get the chance, I highly recommend you visit and support this wonderful heritage venture. For further details please visit this link: https://www.spavalleyrailway.co.uk/

Bluebells at Bredhurst

The countryside at Bredhurst is always beautiful and last month it was particularly so, as the view was transformed by a blanket of bluebells.
Nature changes and adapts to the cycles of the seasons, allowing continuous transformation and renewal to take place. In contrast we can seem rigid and set in our ways. There is so much that can be learnt from the natural world that we are a part of, but often detached from.

Sew La Di Da Vintage
Sew La Di Da Vintage are a dressmaking pattern manufacturer with a sewing school & fabric shop situated in Lyme Regis, Dorset.

Caroline Smith
In the beautiful cobblestoned courtyard of Lyme Regis Town Mill, Caroline Smith has created a sewing sanctuary. The history-rich mill buildings of the courtyard are the perfect backdrop for Sew La Di Da Vintage, Caroline’s studio, workshop and creative HQ, where she designs, creates and teaches vintage-inspired clothing patterns made to fit the modern sewing and fashion enthusiast.*
During my honeymoon in Dorset I visited the Lyme Regis Town Mill and got some photographs of Caroline and her wonderful studio:

Mow It All

Earlier today I did a photo shoot with gardener Mike Pearce who will be launching his ‘Mow It All’ business later this year. Here are a few of the photos taken during the shoot.

Garden Birds

I usually photograph people, but on the 4th February I decided to try something completely new for me, and take portraits of some garden birds instead!

Maxime Xavier and Studio 19

I met Maxime Xavier whilst I was on my honeymoon in Dorset back in September. She works at Studio 19 in the heart of Lyme Regis and she is a vibrant, talented and warm individual, whom it was a pleasure to photograph.
Maxime paints in all mediums, but oils are her first love. Her work includes portraits, landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, figuratives, and animals. She is a well-known equine artist and a recent commission was for a 85ft mural of life-size horses galloping through the sea.
Maxime has painted many portraits from life, including that of the current MP for West Dorset, Sir Oliver Letwin, and a number of well-known characters from her adopted home town of Lyme Regis. Maxime has most recently been working on a series of paintings depicting the winners of the BBC’s popular ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ programme. The paintings have generated media interest and Maxime has appeared on Breakfast TV, BBC Spotlight (SW regional news programme), and BBC Radio Solent as well as in several print articles.
For more details about Maxime’s work please visit her website: http://www.maximexavier.co.uk. Or, if you are in Dorset, why not pop into Studio 19 and see the artist at work

Alice’s Bear Shop and Hospital – Lyme Regis
I recently visited ‘Alice’s Bear Shop and Hospital for Poorly Bears and Dolls’ in Lyme Regis. Whilst there I photographed Doctor Dave and many of the teddy bears/patients at this adorable shop.
