Maxime Xavier and Studio 19

1

I met Maxime Xavier whilst I was on my honeymoon in Dorset back in September. She works at Studio 19 in the heart of Lyme Regis and she is a vibrant, talented and warm individual, whom it was a pleasure to photograph.

Maxime paints in all mediums, but oils are her first love. Her work includes portraits, landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, figuratives, and animals. She is a well-known equine artist and a recent commission was for a 85ft mural of life-size horses galloping through the sea.

Maxime has painted many portraits from life, including that of the current MP for West Dorset, Sir Oliver Letwin, and a number of well-known characters from her adopted home town of Lyme Regis. Maxime has most recently been working on a series of paintings depicting the winners of the BBC’s popular ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ programme. The paintings have generated media interest and Maxime has appeared on Breakfast TV, BBC Spotlight (SW regional news programme), and BBC Radio Solent as well as in several print articles.

For more details about Maxime’s work please visit her website: http://www.maximexavier.co.uk.  Or, if you are in Dorset, why not pop into Studio 19 and see the artist at work

Alice’s Bear Shop and Hospital – Lyme Regis

I recently visited ‘Alice’s Bear Shop and Hospital for Poorly Bears and Dolls’ in Lyme Regis. Whilst there I photographed Doctor Dave and many of the teddy bears/patients at this adorable shop.

Vicky Sheppard

A couple of weeks ago my friend Vicky Sheppard and I did a joint photoshoot. We shared a camera and various items including a leather jacket and a beret, and we had great afternoon getting some photographs for each others portfolios. As far as I’m concerned any photoshoot that involves drinking prosecco is a good shoot! 😉 Here are a selection of my photographs of Vicky.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Stewart! – Some photographs from my beautiful friend’s wedding

I had a wonderful time at Helen and Stefan’s wedding last week. I’ve been friends with Helen for years, and during that time we have collaborated on music, and worked on photo shoots together (some of which have won awards). Helen is a beautiful person, both on the inside as well as the outside, and I’m so pleased to see her so happy with new hubby Stefan. What a gorgeous couple! I’m sure they will have a magical future together xxx

Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red

1

Last week I visited the Tower of London to see ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’. This poignant installation was created by ceramic artist Paul Cummins and marks one hundred years since the first full day of Britain’s involvement in the First World War. 888,246 ceramic poppies were used to fill the Tower’s moat – each poppy represents a British military fatality during the war. It is a powerful reminder of the incredible sacrifice so many made for our country. Part of the installation will continue to be on display at the Tower of London until the end of November. Wear your poppy with pride and remember the fallen.

Promo Pictures: The Adventures of Nellie Bly – Maya Levy

‘The Adventures of Nellie Bly’

Written and performed by Maya Levy

1

‘The Adventures of Nellie Bly’ is an original one-woman show about a highly original woman – with songs!  Before women had the right to vote, daredevil reporter Nellie Bly spent 10 days in a madhouse, went round the world in 72 days, became an elephant trainer and reported on the violent Pullman strikes of Chicago – in favour of the strikers. Funny, fast-paced and enlightening, ‘The Adventures of Nellie Bly’ is for adults and children over 11 yrs.
